Associate Members are counsellors or psychotherapists
who have completed a training programme, at least 100 hours of which is specialised
training in relationship counselling
as outlined in the
training requirements, are practising under supervision and
have yet to accrue the necessary hours of practice and supervision to meet
the clinical membership requirements. Logging of practice hours and
supervision received is advisable for progressing to clinical membership.
Evidence of these qualifications and specialised training in relationship
counselling is required. Applicants will need to provide:
• The names of, and qualifications gained from, tertiary institution(s),
trainer, and/or trainer organisation(s).
• An outline of the course undertaken demonstrating how personal awareness,
counselling skills and theoretical knowledge have been addressed together
with the number of hours completed.
• Proof of current involvement in the field of relationship counselling.
Evidence of the applicant’s clinical practice is to be provided
by current and previous supervisors as designated and notified by the
applicant or such others as the Management Committee deems necessary.
Associate membership is open for an individual subject to review at the
end of five (5) years and at such further periods as the Management Committee
shall decide.

Your State Branch Committee will request references from your referees
and upon receipt, process the application. • You will be
notified of the outcome of this process, together with what membership fee
is due. • New members welcomed after 1st
April in any year pay half the membership fee for that financial
year. • Our financial year ends on 30th
September. •
For reclassifications, the higher membership
fee does not apply until the following financial year beginning 1st October.
